Show Your Nepalese Pride with Our Knitted Polyester Nepal Flag Built to Endure

Nepal is renowned for its breathtaking Himalayan mountain range, including Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. It is a country rich in culture, with a deep-rooted history of ancient traditions and a vibrant array of festivals. Our Knitted Polyester Nepal Flag captures the spirit of this incredible nation, making it the perfect symbol of national pride and identity.

The Nepal Flag:

The Nepal flag is a unique and striking design, and each element holds significant meaning:
  • Two Triangular Shapes: The two stacked triangles represent the Himalayas and the two major religions of Nepal: Hinduism and Buddhism.
  • Crimson Red Colour: The red colour symbolises the bravery of the Nepalese people, while the deep blue border signifies peace.
  • Sun and Moon Emblems: The sun represents the hope for a long life, while the moon is a symbol of the cool, calm nature of the people. The moon also represents the hope that Nepal will enjoy peace and harmony.

Available Finishes:

  • Header with Loops: This finish includes reinforced loops at the top of the flag, complemented by secure sister clips, ensuring a firm and durable attachment to flagpoles or ropes.
  • Vertical Sleeve: This option features a subtle pocket along the side, ideal for slipping onto flagpoles with diameters up to 28mm. If you need a sleeve for a different pole diameter, contact us, and we will tailor it to your specifications.

For lasting quality and vibrant colours of the Nepal flag, please follow these care guidelines:

  1. Cleaning:
    • Gentle Washing: Always wash the flag with a mild detergent to minimise fading. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the colours.
    • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, choose a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent damage.
    • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may cause shrinkage or fabric damage.
  2. Storage:
    • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing it. Keep it in a cool, dry, and secure location to prevent moisture damage.
  3. Folding the Nepal Flag:
    • Start with a clean, dry flag: Lay the flag flat on a clean surface, ensuring it is completely dry and free from any dirt or moisture before folding.
    • First fold lengthwise: Fold the flag in half along its length, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge, aligning the sides carefully.
    • Align the triangles: Ensure that the two triangular sections of the flag are evenly aligned during the fold. The larger triangle (upper section) should be positioned neatly above the smaller triangle (lower section).
    • Fold the left side over: Bring the left side of the flag towards the centre, folding it over the flag’s body to create a neat edge on the left.
    • Repeat the fold: Fold the right side of the flag towards the centre, covering the left fold. This will create a smaller, more compact rectangle with the two triangles of the flag facing outwards.
    • Final folding: Begin folding the flag from the top down in a series of small, neat sections, continuing until the flag is small enough for storage. The flag should be folded tightly to prevent it from becoming bulky.
    • Storing the flag: Once folded, place the flag in a safe, dry place where it will be protected from dust, moisture, or any damage..
  4. Handling:
    • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces that may cause snags or tears.
    • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely fastened when displayed to avoid unnecessary strain on the fabric.
    • Minimise Exposure: Remove the flag during extreme weather or overnight to preserve its condition.
  5. Repairs:
    • Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, it is best to replace the flag or take it to a professional seamstress for repair.
    • Replacement: When the flag shows significant wear, consider purchasing a new one to maintain its appearance during important occasions.

Flying the Nepal Flag:

  • Raising the Flag:
    • Using the Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops at the top of the flag to the flagpole or rope using sister clips.
    • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s vertical sleeve over the flagpole, ensuring it fits snugly and is positioned correctly.
    • Raise the flag briskly and evenly, ensuring it does not touch the ground during the process.
  • Displaying the Flag:
    • The flag should be flown on a vertical flagpole or a flagstaff, and it must be raised above the ground, never touching it.
    • The Nepal flag should be flown with respect at all times. Ensure it is free from any damage, creases, or stains.
    • The Nepal flag should always be displayed upright, with the upper triangle at the top, followed by the lower triangle.
    • It must always be flown with the sun and moon symbols clearly visible. When displayed on a horizontal pole, ensure that the flag is flown with the pointed tip of the top triangle facing upward.
  • Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
    • The Nepal flag is flown at half-mast in times of mourning or national remembrance.
    • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the pole, then lower it to the halfway point.
    • Ensure that the flag remains at the proper half-mast position, and that it is properly secured.
    • When the mourning period ends, the flag should be raised again to the top of the flagpole.
  • Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
    • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset, unless it is illuminated during the night.
    • At sunrise, raise the flag briskly, ensuring it is properly displayed. At sunset, lower the flag with respect, folding it neatly before storing.
    • If the flag is illuminated by a light at night, it may remain flying, but it must still be lowered at sunrise.
  • Weather Conditions:
    • The flag should not be flown in extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms, as this can damage the fabric.
    • In case of bad weather, the flag should be lowered and stored safely to prevent wear and tear.
    • Always check the weather forecast before displaying the flag outdoors, and ensure that it is removed if conditions are unfavourable.
  • Retirement of the Flag:
    • When the Nepal flag is no longer in a condition to be flown, it should be retired respectfully.
    • Flags that are tattered or faded should be replaced, but they should never be thrown away.
    • The retired flag should be disposed of in a dignified manner, such as through burning or burial, in accordance with traditional and respectful customs.
    • Alternatively, the flag may be given to a local organisation or authority that can dispose of it respectfully.

By following these guidelines, your flag will retain its vibrant colours and remain in excellent condition for many years. Taking care of your flag is not just about preservation but also about honouring the pride and heritage it represents.
