For enduring quality and vibrant colours of your Greece flag, please adhere to these care guidelines:

  1. Cleaning:
    • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag and reduce fading. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that may harm the colours.
    • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent it from snagging.
    • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as high heat can shrink or damage the fabric.
  2. Storage:
    • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture-related damage.
  3. Folding the Greece Flag:
    • Preparation: Start by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface, ensuring it is completely dry and free of any dirt or debris.
    • First Fold: Fold the flag in half lengthwise, bringing the bottom edge over the top edge so that the edges align neatly.
    • Second Fold: Fold the flag in half again lengthwise, ensuring the blue and white sections are aligned. This will create a narrower, long strip.
    • Triangular Folds: Starting from the hoist end (the end with the loop or sleeve), fold the flag diagonally to form a triangle, ensuring that the blue field remains on the outside.
    • Continue Folding: Continue to fold the triangle over itself, creating successive triangular shapes down the length of the flag until you reach the end. Each fold should tuck neatly into the previous one.
    • Final Tuck: Once you reach the end of the flag, tuck the remaining fabric into the last triangle to secure the folds in place.
  4. Handling:
    • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces that could cause snags or tears.
    • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly fastened when displayed to prevent unnecessary strain on the fabric.
    • Minimise Exposure: Take the flag down during extreme weather conditions or overnight to maintain its condition.
  5. Repairs:
    • Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, consider having the flag professionally repaired by a seamstress.
    • Replacement: If the flag shows significant wear, it’s best to replace it to ensure it looks its best during important events.

Flying the Greece Flag:

  • Raising the Flag:
    • Before raising the flag, ensure the area is clear of any obstructions.
    • Using the Header with Loops: Secure the reinforced loops at the top of the flag to the halyard or clips, making sure they are tightly fastened to prevent slippage as you raise it.
    • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag onto the flagpole through the sleeve, ensuring it is positioned at the top. If using a pole with a diameter greater than 28mm, ensure it fits snugly to prevent movement.
  • Displaying the Flag:
    • Ensure the flag is displayed in a position of prominence, preferably on a flagpole in a public or outdoor area.
    • When hung or mounted, ensure the flag’s top edge is aligned horizontally, with the blue canton featuring the cross positioned at the upper left side. This ensures that the flag is facing the correct direction, showcasing the emblem of Greece appropriately.
    • When displayed with other flags, the Greek flag should be flown at the same height as other national flags or higher than state or local flags.
    • Avoid placing any object between the flag and the observer to maintain its visibility and dignity.
  • Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
    • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the flagpole and then lower it halfway down.
    • Ensure the flag is secured in this position so that it does not shift or blow in the wind.
    • Common occasions for half-mast include national days of mourning or in remembrance of significant events.
  • Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
    • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset as a sign of respect.
    • If the flag is illuminated at night, it can remain flying; otherwise, it should be taken down after sunset.
    • If raising the flag at sunrise, ensure it is not touched by the ground as it is raised.
  • Weather Conditions:
    • Avoid flying the flag in inclement weather, such as strong winds, heavy rain, or snow, as these conditions can damage the fabric.
    • If adverse weather is forecasted, take the flag down to prevent wear and tear.
    • In extreme weather conditions, secure the flag properly or store it to protect its integrity.
  • Retirement of the Flag:
    • When the flag becomes worn, faded, or damaged, it should be retired in a respectful manner.
    • The proper way to retire the flag is through a ceremonial burning, ensuring it is done safely and respectfully.
    • If you are unsure about the retirement process, contact your local community group or veterans’ organisation for guidance on proper flag retirement ceremonies.

By following these care instructions, your flag will maintain its vivid colours and remain in excellent condition for many years. Caring for your flag is not only about preservation but also about honouring the pride and heritage it represents.

I've worked with Evan Evans constantly over the past few years and each time they demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, outstanding customer service and go above and beyond to ensure you are happy with the end result - could not recommend more highly!
I've been using Evan Evans for several years now and have NEVER had a poor experience. Rene and her team are always so friendly and helpful and go above and beyond with any questions I have. Over the years Evan Evans have helped me design and manufacture a number of different items, including GIANT 8 meter long flags, to plinth socks for the Cricket during the summer. This summer Rene spent a huge amount of time with me fine tuning the Australia and India (pictured) mats that were used at the cricket across Australia. 5 stars!!
The absolute best in the business wouldn't go elsewhere! Rene is a dream to work with and her attention to detail is meticulous!
Where are they made?
