Our Knitted Polyester Comoros Flag embodies the spirit of the nation, making it an ideal choice for expressing your pride.

The Comoros Flag:

The Comoros flag represents the unity and identity of its people. The design features:
  • Four Stripes: Each stripe represents one of the four main islands of the Comoros: yellow for Mohéli, white for Mayotte, red for Anjouan, and blue for Grande Comore.
  • Crescent Moon and Stars: The white crescent and the four white five-pointed stars inside the green triangle symbolises Islam, representing the importance of faith in the nation’s heritage.

Available Finishes:

To maintain the vibrant colours and lasting quality of the Comoros flag, please adhere to the following care guidelines:

  1. Cleaning:
    • Gentle Washing: Always wash the flag using a mild detergent to minimise colour fading. Avoid bleach or any harsh chemicals that could harm the fabric.
    • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging during the wash.
    • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it up to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may shrink or damage the material.
  2. Storage:
    • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture-related damage.
  3. Folding the Comoros Flag:
    • Start with a Clean Surface: Lay the flag face down on a clean, flat surface, ensuring it is free from dirt or debris.
    • First Fold: Fold the flag in half lengthwise, bringing the bottom edge up to meet the top edge, ensuring the flag is evenly creased along the centre.
    • Second Fold: With the flag still folded in half, take the left side and fold it over to the right side, creating a compact rectangle. Ensure the edges are lined up neatly.
    • Tri-Fold Technique: To create a more compact shape, fold the flag into thirds. Start from the left side, folding it over to the centre, and then fold the right side over the left, making sure the flag is well-aligned.
    • Final Touch: Smooth out any wrinkles or creases with your hands to maintain a tidy appearance, and ensure the flag retains its shape for storage or display.
  4. Handling:
    • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces that could cause snags or tears.
    • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely fastened when displayed to prevent unnecessary strain on the fabric.
    • Minimise Exposure: Bring the flag down during extreme weather conditions or overnight to preserve its quality.
  5. Repairs:
    • Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, consider replacing the flag and consult a professional seamstress for repairs on the damaged one.
    • Replacement: When the flag shows significant wear, it may be time to purchase a new one to maintain its appearance during important occasions.

Flying the Comoros Flag:

  • Raising the Flag:
    • Begin by ensuring the flag is clean and free from any tangles.
    • Attach the flag securely to the halyard, making sure it’s oriented correctly, with the green side on the left and the crescent moon and stars visible when raised.
    • Pull the halyard steadily to hoist the flag up the flagpole, ensuring it rises smoothly without any obstruction.
  • Displaying the Flag:
    • When displaying the flag, ensure it is mounted on a sturdy pole that is tall enough to allow for visibility from a distance.
    • Position the flag to fly freely without any obstructions, such as trees or buildings, that could hinder its visibility or movement.
    • The Comoros Flag should be displayed at eye level or higher, with the hoist side facing the direction from which the flag is approached.
  • Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
    • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the flagpole and then lower it halfway down.
    • This gesture is typically used to honour a national tragedy or commemorate a significant event.
    • Ensure the flag is securely attached and does not flap loosely in the breeze.
  • Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
    • The flag should be raised at sunrise, ideally as the sun begins to appear on the horizon, to mark the start of the day.
    • When taking the flag down at sunset, do so promptly as the sun sets, folding it neatly before storing it to maintain its quality.
    • This practice signifies respect for the flag and what it represents.
  • Weather Conditions:
    • It is advisable to bring down the flag during extreme weather conditions, such as high winds, heavy rain, or storms, to prevent damage.
    • Regularly check the flag for signs of wear or tear, and take appropriate measures to protect it from harsh elements.
    • If severe weather is forecasted, consider storing the flag until conditions improve.
  • Retirement of the Flag:
    • When the flag becomes worn or damaged beyond repair, it should be retired respectfully.
    • A fitting method is to cut the flag into smaller pieces, symbolising its dignified retirement, or to burn it in a private ceremony.
    • Ensure that the retirement process is conducted with respect, reflecting the pride and significance the flag holds for the nation.

By following these guidelines, your flag will retain its vibrant colours and stay in excellent condition for many years to come. Caring for your flag is not just about preservation but also about honouring the pride and heritage it represents.
