For lasting quality and vibrant colours of the Bulgaria flag, please follow these care guidelines:
- Cleaning:
- Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent when washing the flag to reduce fading. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the colours.
- Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent it from snagging.
- Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it up to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can cause shrinkage or damage to the fabric.
- Storage:
- Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry, and safe place to prevent moisture-related damage.
- Folding the Bulgaria Flag:
- Initial Fold: Lay the flag out on a flat surface with the white stripe facing up. Fold the flag lengthwise so the green stripe is on top, aligning the edges neatly.
- Second Fold: Fold the flag lengthwise again, ensuring that the white and green stripes are aligned. The flag should now be a long, narrow strip with the red stripe visible.
- Triangle Folding: Start folding the flag from the hoist side (the side with the pocket or loops) into a series of overlapping triangles. Begin with a fold that creates a triangle with the top edge aligning with the edge of the flag.
- Continue Folding: Continue folding the flag in triangles, ensuring each fold is neatly aligned and that the flag is kept taut. Keep folding until the entire flag is compactly folded into a triangle.
- Secure the End: Tuck in the remaining loose end of the flag beneath the folded triangle to create a smooth, clean finish.
- Handling:
- Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep your flag away from sharp or rough surfaces to prevent tears or snags.
- Secure Installation: When displaying the flag, ensure it is securely fastened to avoid unnecessary stress on the fabric.
- Minimise Exposure: To prolong the flag’s life, take it down during harsh weather conditions or overnight.
- Repairs:
- Minor Repairs: If there are small tears or fraying, take the flag to a professional for repair or replace it to preserve its appearance.
- Replacement: When the flag becomes worn, consider replacing it to maintain its vibrant look during special occasions.
Flying the Bulgaria Flag:
- Raising the Flag:
- Attach the flag securely to the flagpole using the provided loops or clips.
- Raise the flag slowly and steadily, ensuring it is unfurled fully and not tangled.
- Ensure the flag is raised to the top of the flagpole, with the white stripe on the top, followed by green, and then red.
- Displaying the Flag:
- When displaying the flag, make sure it is flown with the white stripe at the top, followed by green and red.
- The flag should be flown in a position of prominence, ideally in a location where it is easily visible and not obstructed by other objects.
- Avoid placing the flag in a position where it could come into contact with the ground or be damaged.
- Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
- To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the flagpole and then lower it to the halfway point.
- Ensure the flag remains at the halfway mark during the period of mourning or commemoration.
- After the designated time, raise the flag back to the top of the pole before lowering it for storage.
- Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
- The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset if it is not illuminated by artificial light.
- If the flag is to be displayed during the night, it should be properly illuminated to avoid any disrespectful appearance.
- Weather Conditions:
- Avoid flying the flag in severe weather conditions such as high winds, heavy rain, or snow, as these can damage the fabric.
- During inclement weather, consider taking the flag down to protect it from unnecessary wear and tear.
- Retirement of the Flag:
- When the flag becomes worn or damaged beyond repair, it should be retired respectfully.
- To retire the flag, fold it ceremonially and then dispose of it in a dignified manner, such as through a local flag retirement ceremony or by contacting a flag disposal service.
By following these care instructions, your flag will remain vibrant and in excellent condition for years to come. Caring for your flag is a way to show respect for the pride and heritage it represents.
