Timeless Craftsmanship Meets Patriotism with Our Fully Sewn Georgia Flag

Known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and historic landmarks, Georgia is a country that sits at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It is renowned for its ancient winemaking traditions, hospitality, and diverse architecture, blending modernity with centuries-old churches and fortresses. Our Fully Sewn Georgia Flag embodies the spirit of the nation, making it an ideal choice for proudly displaying your heritage.

The Georgia Flag:

The Georgian flag is easily recognisable by its bold design, which reflects the country’s deep religious history. It features a large central red cross, a symbol of St. George, the patron saint of Georgia. Surrounding this are four smaller red crosses, representing Georgia’s enduring connection to its Christian roots. Key elements include:
  • White Field: Signifies purity, wisdom, and spiritual unity.
  • Central Red Cross: Symbolises St. George and the country’s strength and resilience.
  • Four Smaller Crosses: Represent Georgia’s devotion to Christianity and the four gospels.

  • Header with Loops: This option features durable loops reinforced for added strength and includes sister clips for straightforward and secure attachment to poles or ropes.
  • Vertical Sleeve: This design incorporates a subtle pocket that conveniently slides onto flagpoles with diameters up to 28mm. For different pole sizes, please contact us for tailored solutions.

To ensure the longevity and vibrant appearance of the Georgia Flag, follow these care instructions:

  1. Cleaning:
    • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, helping to maintain its colours and fabric integrity. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
    • Machine Wash: If necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and wash on a gentle cycle with cold water to prevent damage.
    • Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it up to air dry. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as high heat can cause shrinkage or harm the material.
  2. Storage:
    • Safe Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing to avoid mould and mildew. Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
  3. Folding the Georgia Flag:
    • Begin by holding the flag horizontally, ensuring the corners are aligned and the fabric is smooth.
    • Fold the flag in half lengthwise, bringing the bottom edge up to meet the top edge while keeping the edges aligned. The flag should now be half its original height.
    • Fold the flag lengthwise again to form a narrow strip, ensuring the corners are neatly aligned for a crisp fold.
    • Starting at the fly end (the end furthest from the flagpole), create a triangular fold by bringing the bottom corner up to meet the opposite edge.
    • Continue folding in a triangular pattern, ensuring each fold is tight and even. Repeat this process until you reach the hoist (the side attached to the flagpole).
    • When you reach the hoist, tuck any remaining fabric securely into the folds to keep the flag compact and secure.
    • The finished flag should appear as a neat triangle with no loose edges.
  4. Handling:
    • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects and rough surfaces to prevent snags and tears.
    • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly secured and can move freely when displayed.
    • Flag Exposure: To extend the life of the flag, take it down during severe weather or at night to minimise exposure to harsh elements.
  5. Repairs:
    • Minor Repairs: If you notice fraying or wear, switch it with a spare and consider having the damaged flag repaired professionally by a seamstress.
    • Replacement: As the flag approaches the end of its life, think about purchasing a new one to ensure you always have a fresh flag ready for important events.

Flying the Georgia Flag:

  • Raising the Flag:
    • For Flags with Header and Loops: Securely attach the flag by hooking the reinforced loops onto the halyard clips. Ensure the loops are evenly spaced and tightly fastened to prevent tangling or slack as you raise the flag.
    • For Flags with Vertical Sleeve: Insert the flagpole through the sleeve, ensuring a snug fit. The flag should glide smoothly along the pole during raising. Confirm that the sleeve is fully positioned on the pole to avoid any slipping.
    • Raise the Georgia flag with confidence and respect, ensuring it reflects the strength of the nation.
    • The flag must never touch the ground while being raised and should always be flown above any other flags when displayed alongside them, including those of companies or organisations.
  • Displaying the Flag:
    • The Georgia flag should be prominently displayed, with the five red cross clearly visible.
    • When displayed indoors, place the flag to the right of the speaker (audience’s left) and at the same height as other national flags.
    • For vehicle display, ensure the flag is securely fastened to a flagpole and avoid draping it over the bonnet, roof, or sides.
  • Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
    • To fly the Georgia flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the pole for a moment before lowering it to a halfway position.
    • When bringing the flag down from half-mast, first raise it to the peak again before lowering it completely.
    • This practice is typically reserved for days of mourning or in honour of significant individuals, as determined by government officials or institutions.
  • Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
    • The Georgia flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset, unless it is properly illuminated overnight.
    • Always perform these tasks with respect and care, pausing briefly when the flag reaches the top or bottom position.
    • If displayed outdoors overnight, ensure it has sufficient lighting to honour its continuous display.
  • Weather Conditions:
    • Avoid flying the Georgia flag during inclement weather, such as heavy rain, snow, or storms, unless it is specifically designed for all-weather use.
    • High winds can lead to excessive wear and tear, so it is advisable to lower the flag in such conditions to maintain its longevity.
  • Retirement of the Flag:
    • When the Georgia flag becomes too worn, faded, or damaged for display, it should be retired with dignity, typically by burning it in a respectful manner.
    • Many communities and organisations, including veterans’ groups, conduct flag retirement ceremonies. Participating in or organising such a ceremony is a respectful way to honour the flag.
    • Never discard the flag in the rubbish. If uncertain about proper disposal methods, reach out to a local government office or flag association for guidance.

By following these care instructions, you’ll ensure that your Fully Sewn Georgia Flag remains vibrant, durable, and a symbol of pride for many years. Proper care reflects the respect you have for your heritage and nation.
