To ensure the longevity and vibrant appearance of your Brazil flag, please follow these care instructions:

  1. Cleaning:
    • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to wash the flag and avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals that could cause fading.
    • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Protect the flag by placing it in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
    • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can lead to shrinkage and fabric damage.
  2. Storage:
    • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent damage.
  3. Folding the Brazil Flag:
    • Prepare the Flag: Place the flag on a flat surface facing upwards.
    • First Lengthwise Fold: Fold the flag lengthwise, aligning the edges so the green field is enclosed inside the fold.
    • Second Lengthwise Fold: Fold the flag lengthwise again, ensuring that the green field remains inside and the edges are aligned.
    • Form Triangles: Starting from the end, fold the flag into a triangular shape, aligning the edges carefully.
    • Continue Triangular Folds: Continue folding the flag in a triangular pattern towards the opposite end.
    • Secure the End: Once folded into a compact triangle, tuck any excess fabric neatly to secure the shape.
    • Final Adjustment: Ensure the flag is evenly folded and that the yellow diamond is prominently visible on the outer side of the folded flag.
  4. Handling:
    • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects and rough surfaces that might cause snags or tears.
    • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is hoisted securely and is free from obstructions when displayed.
    • Flag Exposure: Reduce exposure to harsh weather conditions by removing the flag during severe weather or at night.
  5. Repairs:
    • Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, replace the flag with a spare and have it professionally repaired by a seamstress.
    • Replacement: When the flag shows significant wear, consider ordering a new one to keep your display fresh and vibrant.

Flying the Brazil Flag:

  • Raising the Flag:
    • Attach the flag securely to the flagpole using the appropriate fasteners or clips.
    • Hoist the flag swiftly and smoothly to the top of the pole, ensuring it does not touch the ground during the ascent.
  • Displaying the Flag:
    • Position the flag ensuring the yellow diamond and blue globe are prominently displayed and centred.
    • Ensure the flag is fully extended, free from wrinkles or bunching, and displayed in a prominent location where it is easily visible.
  • Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
    • First raise the flag to the top of the pole, then lower it to the halfway point.
    • Maintain the flag at the half-mast position for the entire period of mourning or commemoration as specified.
  • Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
    • Hoist the flag at sunrise, ensuring it is fully raised before the sun is visible.
    • Lower the flag at sunset or before dark, handling it carefully and respectfully as you bring it down.
  • Weather Conditions:
    • Avoid displaying the flag during severe weather conditions such as high winds, heavy rain, or storms to prevent damage.
    • If adverse weather is anticipated, lower the flag and store it in a dry, secure location until conditions improve.
  • Retirement of the Flag:
    • When the flag becomes worn, faded, or irreparably damaged, retire it with respect.
    • The appropriate method for retirement includes burning the flag in a dignified ceremony or returning it to an authorised body for proper disposal according to national guidelines.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure your flag remains vibrant and in excellent condition. Remember, your flag represents your pride in Brazil and reflects the respect you have for your national heritage.
