1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, avoiding bleach or similar products that could cause fading.
   • Machine Wash: If necessary, wash on a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
   • Drying: Air dry by laying flat or hanging. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can cause shrinkage and damage.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Bahrain Flag:
   • Place the flag on a flat surface with the red band positioned on the left side.
   •  Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the two long edges.
   • Fold the flag in half once more, bringing the two shorter edges together to form a long, narrow strip.
   • Starting from one end, fold the strip into a triangular shape, making sure each fold is even and smooth.
   • Continue folding the triangle inwards, keeping the edges aligned until you reach the end of the strip.
   • Adjust the final fold to ensure the flag is neatly folded and compact, with the red band visible on the top layer.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items that could cause snags or tears.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely mounted and not touching the ground.
   • Flag Exposure: Limit exposure to harsh weather conditions by taking down the flag during extreme weather or at night.
5. Repairs:
   • Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, replace the flag with a spare and seek professional repair from a seamstress.
   • Replacement: When the flag shows significant wear, order a replacement to keep your display fresh and vibrant.

Flying the Bahrain Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Ensure the flagpole is clean and free from obstructions.
  • Attach the flag securely to the halyard or flagpole using the appropriate fittings or clips.
  • Raise the flag briskly until it is fully unfurled and flying freely.
  • The white band should be on the left side, next to the hoist, and the red band on the right.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • Ensure the flag is hoisted so it flies freely without touching the ground or any other surface.
  • Position the flagpole in a prominent location where it is clearly visible.
  • The flag should be displayed with the white band on the left side from the viewer’s perspective.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
  • Briefly raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Lower the flag to a position approximately halfway down the flagpole.
  • Maintain this position as a mark of respect during periods of mourning or national commemoration.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • Raise the flag at sunrise, ensuring it is hoisted promptly and securely.
  • Lower the flag at sunset, doing so respectfully and in a controlled manner.
  • Avoid leaving the flag flying during the night unless it is illuminated.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Do not fly the flag during severe weather conditions such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms, as this can damage the fabric.
  • Remove the flag during extreme weather to prevent wear and tear.
  • Ensure the flag is properly dried and inspected for any damage before re-flying.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When the flag is no longer in a condition to be flown, it should be retired with dignity.
  • Fold the flag properly and dispose of it respectfully, often through a ceremonial burning or a designated disposal service.
